The Sleeper
What does the sleeper dream about?
i. in her world of
Briar and roses
Tangled and twisted
Yet still perfumed
she sleeps
ii. She dreams of armor
shining brightly
and she clips on
a sword
iii. the dragon in her dreams
whispers of gold,
and her heart longs
for the shimmer of diamonds
her mouth opens
and fire pours out
iv. She sneaks into the dragon lair
Searching for her wedding ring,
stolen,
and her sword flashes
in the light
v. She flicks open her wings
feathered, sleek
and she
flies
vi. She explores the world,
on foot, slowly, ponderously
every flower noticed
following the feathers
vii. She lives in the forest
Her feathers faded, falling
Given freely
she protects the forest
vii. She is hated
though she only loves
invitation lost or never sent
her gift does not seem kind
even if it is
it will never be realized
except by herself
xi. She wakes,
and sighs, and wishes to
sleep again
live again a thousand
fragmented lives

I should really be working on Nano... *sighs* Anyhoot, hope you enjoy the poem. @Air, yes I did kind of switch it up, and I'll edit it better later, but right now I'm low key panicking because I haven't written anything today. If I do end up procrasinating and writing more poetry any time soon, I'll post it on here.
It's so good! Shame on me for not finishing beta reading for you.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on NaNo!
I'm glad you like it! It's okay, I totally understand- you're busy and have figured out how to be productive and you know, write during Nano! XD Hope to see you more soon.
