Remember, even if you feel like your novel/script/whatever is really bad, the idea isn't that you grow something wonderful perfectly the first time.
Instead, the idea is that you start to figure out how to grow things at all- all your money trees and strange mystical fruits- and use the failures as compost.

It's been a while since NaNo ended, but I want to say... the fact that you posted this made me push on and hit my much smaller goal. It made me realize that it was okay to work on bits and pieces as long as they helped me drive towards something bigger. I might have made a pile of word salad, but you helped me realized I could still, as you say, compost it.
