Tips For Changing Up Your Wardrobe Without Using A Lot Of Money (Featuring Citali)

 1. Use everything you have.
If you're like me, then you probably have plenty of clothes, you just have a bunch you don't wear a lot, because you don't like them, or they're too big or too small. It would be a good idea to take them out and try them on with various things and try to find combinations you can wear them with, even if you don't like them a lot, it's better to wear ten or twenty mediocre outfits then five really wonderful ones.

 2. Go shopping at any local thrift shops.

Lauchlan: Oh totally. Thrift stores usually have fairly unique and not easily found stuff.

Indigo: Grab lots of things from thrift shops that might work. Even if you don't end up wearing it allot, at least you didn't waste $40 buying it.

Indigo: Yass I know. I actually found a Scottish Hello Kitty sweatshirt at this one thrift shop place.

Lauchlan:  Woooow. I didn't even know such a thing existed. I got this awesome grey sketch knight's shield t-shirt at a thrift store.

 3. If there is something you are considering buying then be careful how you do it. Consider, would you wear it a lot? How much does it cost? What are the reveiws? How much do you want it? Can you see it in future outfits? If you answer yes to many or all of those questions, you have a good match.

Indigo: That does sound cool!

4. Consider things you want to shop for specifically. Like, if you have a skirt you really like, but it's getting immodestly short, you could buy tights to wear with it, that you could also wear with other skirts and dresses. (Things that can only be worn with one article of clothing usually aren't good picks.)

5. Layer. Layering clothing is often a cool way to make an old, too small, or too big shirt look totally different. Layering t-shirts, camis, and tank tops all create different visual affects are a great way to mashup colors.

6. Make your clothes your own. If you have an old pair of jeans that is falling apart, you can cut them off, roll them up, and personalize them with fabric paints and iron-ons to make a unique statement piece that speaks a lot of your personality and is perfect for a relaxed summer day. You could make your own earrings with some bits of iron, carve a wood pendant for a necklace or splatter paint on jeans to add a touch of funky fun to any outfit.

 7. Accessorize. Now when I say this I don't mean hot pink purses, I mean a bit of jewelry. Earrings, bracelets, a hairstyle, all help to add a bit more depth and character.

 8. Vests. Vests are an awesome way to also change up any shirt. With a vest over the main part of the t-shirt you can make it look completely different. They can make it look anything from classy to formal to casual to punk.

9. It's okay to wear summer clothes in winter or vice versa! Leggings make a skirt warm, and you can layer long sleeves and short sleeves. Or roll up leggings to be capris and long sleeves to be half sleeves!

Lauchlan: I like it Citali! I do that a lot.

10. Add crazy things. Things that you don't necessarily think would go together. Today's style is all about being funky and weird so just wear what you like. And of course the ultimate tip: FORGET THE TRENDS. Wear what makes you happy.

Citali: Yes definitely! *wears an oversized science bowl shirt with leggings that are too small*

  3. Ooh! Thanks for this! I've been recently experimenting just a teensy bit more with my wardrobe, trying to figure out what my "style" is (if I even HAVE a style), and what colors do and don't look good on me, that kind of thing. These tips all look great! I loooooove thrift stores, but I'm usually just making a beeline for the books xD
